I live in Baarn with my family (husband, two daughters and dog). I started my career as a corporate lawyer and gradually specialized in employment law.

 

The combination of being business-oriented on the one hand and being more focused on people on the other hand, appeals to me enormously. This is the great thing about being an employment law lawyer, you work together with almost everyone in the organization (including employees, managers and an HR team). In recent years I have worked for all kinds of (international) companies as an employment lawyer. One of the things I always do is to treat everyone with respect and dignity, even if the message is painful.

 

When you get fired, you feel all kinds of things; disbelief, anger, sadness, but especially fear and a feeling insecure. What wil happen next?  I know what it's like to be fired. In my case, my employment contract was not extended and I was told this after I had just returned from my maternity leave. In addition to anger and sadness, I mainly felt stressed and insecure about what to do next. Questions popped up like:  will I still have enough money and will I be able to find another job?

 

In the end, all the stress and uncertainty were not necessary. Being fired has brought me to where I am now. And  what I want for you is that you will be able to look back on the entire process with a good feeling.
